Aromatherapy MassageAromatherapy treats mind and body together. The scent of the essential oils used can have a powerful effect on the emotions while the oil's chemistry affects the bodyAromatherapy is the use of essential oils in holistic treatments to help improve physical and emotional health.
Essential oils are extracted from plants and they have certain therapeutic properties. The aromatherapist will decide on the best oils or blend of oils to use depending on your specific needs.
The oils can be applied in a variety of ways, but massage is a common method of application. The essential oils are blended with a carrier oil and then gently massaged into the skin.
Aromatherapy is an especially effective treatment for stress-related problems and a variety of chronic conditions.
Research has shown that when they are applied to the skin or inhaled, essential oils are absorbed into the bloodstream and metabolised in the body, similar to other substances. Many essential oils possess significant anti-microbial properties, in both liquid and vapour form. There are many studies that demonstrate how essential oils can positively affect mood and the sense of well-being. (Woolfson, A & Hewitt, D (1992) Intensive Aromacare, International Journal of Aromatherapy 4(2) pp.12-13).
Treatments are tailored to your individual needs. The therapist will discuss with you the essential oils to be used and the massage to be given. Treatments last between 1/2 hour to 1 hour.
Ear Candle Therapy (Thermo-Auricular Therapy)Thermo Auricular Therapy (also known as Hopi Ear Candles) have been used by many cultures for centuries as an effective natural therapy. Ancient rock paintings have shown the use of Ear candles at initiation rituals and medicinal ceremonies. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on a purely physical basis.
The practice reached the modern western world via the Native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona. These Native Americans used them for cleansing their ears of mites, ticks and excessive wax.
Ear Candle Therapy is used for;
Excessive or compact wax in the ears
Irritation in ears and sinuses
Pressure regulation in cases of sinusitis/colds/flu/headaches/migraine
Energetic revitalisation in cases of hearing impairment
Noises in the ear
Stress relief
Treatments usually last between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Prior to the treatment the therapist will look in your ear with an otoscope (like your doctor does)and examine your ear. If it is too sore and inflammed then the therapist will inform you. Treatment at this time cannot be given. The therapist will also complete a full consultation with you and decide upon a treatment plan with you.
The treatment is given with you lying down on your side. It includes a full facial and scalp massage after the candles have been burnt. It is a very relaxing and soothing treatment.
Crystal HealingCrystals are minerals and are all around us. They are formed in the earth's surface and come in many different shapes, sizes and colours. They are identified by their colour and degree of hardness which is measured by the Mohs Scale.
Crystals emit vibrations and frequencies which can affect our whole being. They are known to have healing qualites and each crystal will have different healing qualities which can be utilised to help bring balance and harmony.
A Crystal Healing treatment is carried out lying down in a comfortable and peaceful environment. There is no need to remove any clothing. The Crystals specific to your needs are then placed around or on your body.
The practitioner will then work with the energy of the crystal to assist healing and change. Treatments are also deeply relaxing, ease stress, and have a calming effect.
